Method
Soak the lentils in water for 2 hours. Drain out the water and keep aside. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes. Drain and keep aside. Heat 2 tbsp of the oil and fry one of the onions till transulcent, keeping the other aside. First measure the soaked lentils and the rice mix in the lentils, rice, salt, pepper, cumin and cinnamon and fry the ingredients on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Now, add double the amount of water then the measure of the soaked rice and dal. Mix gently and cover with a lid and cook on low fire till all the water is absorbed. Fry the remaining onion slices till dark brown and garnish with coriander leaves and browned onions and serve warm.
